Born in Jamaica and growing up in Kingston which is the ‘Mecca’ of reggae music, Benjamin was privileged to experience the company of entertainers, producers, managers and a number of influential individuals whom have had a major impact on the Reggae Music Industry as known today.

Although Benjamin immigrated to Canada, he never forgot his strong connection with his birth place or the people who contributed to his passion and devotion for ‘Reggae Music’. It was through the influential connections he made that has kept him abreast of all the latest trends the industry offers and thus enables him to choose entertainers for The Reggae Festival that appeal to all demographic groups.

While attending Algonquin College in Canada’s Nations Capital Region, Benjamin turned his vision into a reality. It didn’t take Benjamin very long to realize there was a niche market right here in Ottawa that was not being completely satisfied.

The Ottawa Reggae Festival in its inaugural year showcased top named artist like ‘MAXI PRIEST’ along with a host of other regional and local artists. To sustain and enhance his vision, Benjamin’s selection of artists is from every genre of reggae music and must be proponents of positive and inspiring messages. He seeks to create an avenue where Canadian talent can flourish and be recognizable as some of today’s international headliners.

Thanks to Benjamin’s connections within the industry, The Ottawa Reggae Festival was considered one of the most successful ‘First Time Festivals’ held within recent years here in Ottawa.

Benjamin and his committed team are zealous about Reggae Music in all of its forms and are looking forward to making The Ottawa Reggae Festival bigger and better each year. By doing this, he and his team know that it will contribute positively to The Nations Capital Region and envision Ottawa as the place to be.
